I'd like to offer up some that I think should have been canceled MUCH sooner.

Friends
Gilmore Girls
She's the Sheriff
Enos
The Hogan Family
The Facts of Life
The Dukes of Hazzard (post John Schneider/Tom Wopat)
Baywatch Nights
Mama's Family
SNL five seasons ago

This list could be 500 posts long

"Enos"? Didn't that last about two episodes total?

Be that as it may, I stand by my assertion that it was too many.

That probably should just go in the "never should have been made" category, then, as would "She's the Sheriff." The others I've seen on your list (which isn't all of them) were probably worth at least one episode.

She's the Sheriff

I'm reeling from the repressed memories...

How about My Secret Identity?

My vote would be any show that glorifies the worst in human nature, especially reality shows.

American Idol
The Weakest Link
Survivor
Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire
Temptation Island

Any of these shows that just thrived on just how evil people can be to each other.

And remember when that infantile (in terms of content) Who Wants to be a Millionaire was on EVERY OTHER DAY?

DVDs... So happy for DVDs...

Boring prime-time game shows are my pet peeve. They definitely should have already cancelled "Deal or No Deal" and "Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?" "Fifth-Grader" moves WAAAAAY too slow (I like the rapid-fire trivia questions of "Jeopardy"), and "Deal or No Deal" was cute for about four episodes. Now it has "Millionaire" syndrome, where it's on too often.

I loved it in its heyday, but I think it's about time for Fox to let "The Simpsons" die with whatever dignity it has left. It's done every joke at least 3 times, and the social commentary isn't as biting anymore. The movie was funny, though.

Since I did not buy Christmas(or holiday for the atheists) gifts for you guys, I'd like to offer this. You're so welcome.

While I agree that the show is definitely past its prime, from time to time it offers a few gems that come out of left field, and the world would be just a bit sadder for not having heard them.

I agree Mr. Quat. The Simpsons on the decline is still preferable to most of the tripe on TV right now. And while it has lost a bit of it's edge, it is a far cry from having "jumped the shark", in my opinion.

It jumped the shark a long time ago, when they started using the news when their idea well dried up. Homer performs gay marriages? Puh-leeze.

They need to kill the simpsons off and give us more Futurama.

The celebrity guests will never get old for me, but I agree it's getting to that time. Perhaps they can stretch it out for a 20th anniversary...not that long to go really.

Luc, you contend that the Simpsons has gone stale while Futurama is fresh and cutting edge? My friend, we are wasting our breath even talking about this one. We must move on now.

Family Guy's Star Wars DVD tribute. Discuss...

They are.

If you were not aware, Futurama has been brought back for at least three (possibly four) feature-length direct-to-DVD releases, each which will be "broken up" into separate episodes for broadcast on the Cartoon Network.

That is not killing off the simpsons and bringing back Futurama. But yeah, I'm glad for new content.

Did I say that?

I've seen a couple commercials for some new game show called "Moment of Truth." Basically it looks like it features people foolish enough to be asked Jerry Springer-style questions while hooked up to some sort of polygraph.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't cancelled soon enough, and it hasn't aired yet.

Yeah, I saw ads for that last night and thought, "Who OK'd THAT?" I tried to blame the writers' strike, but I actually think that Fox just likes to play a lot of trash.

While its true that Fox likes tripe, the strike has definitely opened the floodgates.

I want them to do a show called To Catch To Catch a Predator. The premise is simple: hire a 13 year old to pose as a 30 year old online, who takes the bait of Dateline's 30 year old posing as a 13 year old. The kid goes to the bait house, and Chris Hansen has some splainin to do.

How about the first 3 weeks of American Idol each season - could we just cancel that repetitive process of humiliation and public torture. I'm ok with canning the whole show too, though it might have a noticible impact on the economy with what advertisers are paying for it this year and the amount cell phone companies rake in on text messaging charges. At least the actual contest part of the show is less prone to inducing coma.

I was just going to start a thread on American Idol! I'm sure we can get a lively discussion going over there!

UPDATE: The "American Idol" thread is here (http://fwdailynews.com/forums/showthread.php?p=7020)! Enjoy!

I remember reading an article once about the audition process they use and the producers have a very active role in selecting the most "colorful" contestants to be featured on the audition shows, with that being the only function these people serve. The "finalists", from what I read, are nicely pre-selected for the judges to "approve". In short, the whole thing is a sham designed to manufacture drama, with very little real drama evident. Must be why I lost interest after 2 episodes...

I reccomend canning all reality shows.
My spouse might disagree, but then we would not have to be home in time to watch them!

I gotta tell ya. I like that Kitchen Nightmares show. I love watching people getting yelled at, especially with a British accent.

I am not attracted to coffee, especially in public restrooms! as a matter of fact, I am not interested in any liquids that are found in a bathroom!
