When I'm having some friends over to watch a game, one of the things that I'll make (and it's really easy and yummy) is something that is a cross between a cheeseburger and a Sloppy Joe loaded onto a big french bread.

It's pretty simple:
1) Slice the bread lengthwise somewhere in the 1/2 to 1/3 from the top range and hollow out the thicker base section. (use the removed bread for bread crumbs, or croutons)

2) Brush the surfaces with a mixture of melted butter and garlic salt

3) Brown in the oven - watch carefully, it can go from brown to black very fast. - set aside.

4) Brown and drain 1lb of hamburger - I usually also mix in a small chopped onion and some Worchestershire Sauce

5) Stir in one can of condensed Tomato Soup - simmer for 10 min (more or less depending on how thick you want the meat - you just don't want it to be too moist for the bread.

6) Spoon into Bread Shell

7) Layer with slices of your favorite chese.

8) Throw back in oven to melt cheese

9) But bread "lid" back on and allow to cool for a few minutes before you cut into individual sandwich slices for serving.

If you have any recipes for entertaining a crowd of sports fans post em here.
