Anyone ever do this? How is it? I think I'm going to try it out in the next couple of weeks. I see they have a 1 1/2 hour trip all the way up to a 6 hour trip. Looks like fun, was just curious how the river is.. big, fast moving, swimming/picnic spots? thanks.

I've gone twice. The river is small, with a very slight current. With the lack of rain it is pretty shallow in spots. I'm going again next Sunday, so you know I dig it.

I checked out that sight. Looks neat. I once went on a three day one with some friends down the St. Joe. Then again I had some friends once get out on the Missouri River and the only thing they were able to salvage after the canoe tipped over was the canoe itself. It got hung up on a snag:) Point is my calandar is clear for next Sunday so if the either of you want to hire me to help carry luggage:)

I see they rent kayaks too. I've done both, and kayaking is sooo much easier. I might see how busy they are over Labor Day and go that weekend, or the weekend after. If and when I do, I'll post some pictures.

Can't put a cooler in a kayak.

Quite a while ago we started at the livery and went to Mongo. Way too much paddling, unless you're into that. I personally would opt for an all river trip. Used to go to Big Bear River in Northern Michigan, a larger and faster river, not too fast for us old folks though.

Dang. Good point on the cooler in a kayak. Guess it'll be the canoe! Gotta have a cold sixer with me.. even if I'm just taking the 1.5 hr. trip. :)

We take the 4 hour. Toss in a 12 pack and some Subway. Bug spray, sun screen, aspirin... gots to have a canoe.

Why aspirin?

In case a headache crops up.

Aspirin plus beer is not good news, Beebe - unless you have a cast iron stomach. You are better off just drinking away the headache. :beerglass:
