I haven't seen our beloved Fence Post so quiet since I have been a member. It must be the sugar hangover everyone is going thru after raiding their Halloween candy dishes!

What's up with everyone? I'm pretty sure Evil isn't raking his leaves yet. Are your social schedules too busy for some Fence Post chats? LOL!

Personally, I've been busy trying to catch up with a bunch of things I need to get done in real life. I haven't even had time to wrack my brain trying to solve armyda's latest song puzzle.

Maybe all the election talk has finally run its course, for now. I could see it picking up again about Wednesday.

I know my election conversations have worn me out. I just return a standard letter when I receive a crazy rumor letter now. November 4th will be a fun day to follow.

My neighbors decided to hang their Christmas lights from their roof today and take advantage of the nice weather. Others are probably raking their leaves - I'm just curious what Evil is up to? I can't imagine him doing either of the above mentioned. LOL! I'm pretty sure he is into the Halloween candy!

Talk about a redistribution of wealth -- on Friday night we gave out more than 400 pieces of candy! I'm not complaining though. I love to see all the kids and their parents parading around the neighborhood as Hannah Montana and Batman. I think my favorite of the evening was the family dressed as Mario characters. They had Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi and the littlest one was pushed around in a stroller with a mushroom hat on his head. Cute, cute, cute!

I'm not sure it's a sugar high that's kept me from participating as much on the forums. I'm not really sick of talking about politics either. Close, but not yet. I guess it's more that I don't know what else I can say.

I support Barack Obama. I researched all the issues starting way back in January and had mostly decided by February who would have my vote. I've tried to talk about why I'll be voting the way I am on here. I've brought up discussions about taxes, the economy and health care. I've tried to dispute a lot of the ridiculous smears that have been sent around about Obama and get people to focus on the issues. I've even tried to talk to the 'one issue' people on here on things like abortion -- and how, though my candidate may disagree with them on the issues, Obama might still be their best choice because he has a better plan for improving the economy, which is a natural way to reduce abortions.

More than that I've tried to show people how excited I am to vote FOR a candidate. For most of my adult life I've had to choose between the lesser of two evils but this year I thought we had two pretty good choices -- until McCain chose Palin as his running mate. She is an absolute deal breaker for me, and even a lot of conservatives I know are concerned about what would happen if she became president.

Although Obama is viewed by a lot of conservatives as ultra-liberal, he's really more of an old fashioned centrist democrat ... a populist who believes the greatest strength we have in our country lies with those of us who are in the middle of everything. We're not the rich or the poor, we're not the liberals or the conservatives -- we're the hard working everybody in between.

If you look at Obama's record over the entire time he's been in public office you can see that he's there too -- just a little to the left of the exact middle. It's the hard turn to the right that we took eight years ago that makes him look like he might be too far left.

I believe Barack Obama is a good man with a vision for this country that can help us heal economically, diplomatically and politically. I am proud to be casting my vote for him on Tuesday. And if I could think of anything else to say that would bring a few more people with me, I would.

But I think a lot of people in this area are so caught up in their identity as a Conservative or a Christian or a Gun Owner or a Whatever, that they never really thought through a choice this election year. Instead of choosing the candidate that is best for our country, they'll vote their default position out of fear or a sense of holding on to values that their party no longer seems to really possess. Look at the leadership of the Republican Party. They still talk the talk -- but how many of them really walk the walk any more?

It's been a greedy grab the last eight years in banking, in health care, in real estate, in defense, etc. The people at the top have surely benefited, but has anyone else? And how many of those people at the top have paid back their good fortune by doing what all this deregulation and bending of the laws was supposed to accomplish? How many of them have invested back in the workers of this country? How many people who make such rigid proclamations about what is right and what is wrong have followed through in their own personal lives?

You can choose to believe the smears about Obama if you want but, please, take just a minute to think ... of all the questions thrown out about him ... has anyone successfully proven (with verifiable fact) that he is anything other than what he says he is?

I believe Obama is a good man who loves his country and his family and has always tried to do the right thing -- even when it is not the easy thing. Can you say the same about McCain (divorce, affairs, Keating 5, current investigation re bid rigging w Boeing) or Palin (I don't even know where to start)?

But you've heard all this from me before. So, unless someone has a question I can answer, or I have some new, original thought to add -- I'm stepping down from my soapbox and trusting that when y'all get in the voting booth you will do the right thing.

Well this is crossing threads, but I think this song belongs here. LOL

sweet crystalline substance, bee’s nectar, bee’s nectar
my trick or treat princess
your actions have awakened a desire in me

WOW! Eveedee, your writings never cease to amaze me. You really express your thoughts so well.

The reasons that I am also voting for Obama are summed up in your writing. Thanks for sharing this with us.

We enjoyed Halloween here also. The kids were precious - we have left over candy that is not a safe thing for my hips. I'm hoping the grandkids come over today.

Oh I've been around... and been completely stumped by Armyda's latest "Tune" puzzle.

Oh yeah, making the kids cry by stealing all their "good" Halloween candy, too.

I don't feel so bad since one is borderline diabetic and shouldn't be eating that much candy anyway and both are just kids, so to them, poop would be okay to eat as long as there's enough sugar on it... which is the basic argument for anyone who ever handed out Smarties or those nasty red and black wrapped gooey candies one only sees the last week of October.
