Coming to town for a bit and was just looking at the list of hotels on Google. If you had family coming to town and didn't have room for them, where would you suggest they stay, keeping in mind affordability?
So far, the Budgeteer wins out on price. $43.00 for one king size. Anyone give me any tips on this place.. is it ok?
Still browsing Google.. I'll check other prices. Any tips would be appreciated!

A good listing is available from the tourism web site: http://www.lakes101.org/
For scenic and something to do for family fun you might consider Potowatomi Inn at the Park. Not the cheapest but it offers Restaurant and park activities, including the Toboggan which should start this weekend.
Maybe james will volunteer to first down with another video this year. What do you say james, ready for that wind blown look?

Marturello wound up with a pretty sore back (and rear) after that video last year - apparently when you can't hold on to the toboggan (because you're holding a video camera) it makes for quite a jostling.
We didn't get up there last year, but my wife and I want to take the kids up this year. It looks like a blast!

I have stayed at the Budgeteer years ago after a couple of Christmas parties. It was ok back then. Right off the highway. No frills but we had no problems.

Hey I figured I should post back on this one. We ended up at the Budgeteer.. they didn't have many reviews online, but I took a gamble and booked a room there. It cost around $46 for a king size bed room. I read reviews on all of the other places in town, some were good reviews, some were pretty bad - but the price is what I was looking for. We were only staying in town for a night to do shopping and dinner, so I wasn't looking for anything fancy.
The Budgeteer wasn't bad. It was old, and everything about the room was old, the carpet, molding decorations, etc.. but it wasn't bad or dirty. We had a pretty nice room, with cable t.v. a fridge and wi-fi. I really had no complaints at all, and neither did my wife - she would have let me have it if it was a dive place.
Anyhow, I'd stay there again for sure. It was half the price of any other place in Angola, and unless you're looking for a place with a pool or jacuzzi, be sure to check out the Budgeteer. Thanks for the tips everyone!

The Holiday Inn Express is very nice. Not the cheapest, but very nice and very close to shopping and the highways.

Hah! I was going to suggest that place when I clicked this thread!
I worked there about a hundred years ago a few months after it opened, and at that time it was easily the best motel in the area.
The spa rooms were nice and it even had a "Presidential" suite that was reasonably extravagant (considering the area).
Sadly, it was owned by "out of towners" who seldom visited and made most managerial decisions blindly, so I can only imagine how the place is now.

My husband and I stayed there a few months ago. Just needed a night away from the kids to have some "us time". It was really nice.
