I HIGHLY recommend this movie to any dog lover out there... and also take some tissues as you will need them for this movie.:bawling:

My full review will be in tomorrow, but I really enjoyed this movie as well. I grew up with dogs (my parents are on their fifth golden retriever), and it really reminded me of what I love about dogs. The book that the movie is based on is also very good.
People who don't have pets, however, will probably be a little confused about just why anyone would deal with such a destructive monster all the time. Dog owners just smile knowingly.

Anyone who sees the movie and still thinks they want a little "Marley" contact me. I'll have four ready for Valentines day.

For the record, Marley was a Labrador Ret. not a Golden Ret. We had a Marley that went to heaven last year. In fact he is the Lab that my moniker is named after and his picture is shown. I started reading this book while I was on an airplane flying to California. I had to stop reading as my crying, no sobbing was a little much. I finished the book after I arrived at my hotel and I sobbed and sobbed, then my husband read this and sobbed and sobbed. We want to see this movie but have decided that we could never see it in a public place as we would be thrown out for being too loud.
My concern is that breeders and prospective dog owners will decide that Marley is cute and there will be a lot of Marley's for sale and a lot of people that will rush right out and buy a Labrador because they are so cute and then months later they will end up in shelters because people are not prepared to deal with all of their energy, this happened after 101 Dalmations.
Labrador Ret. are wonderful, full-hearted pets that need a lot of exercise and need to be challenged. Please study this breed and remember that pets are not disposable, once you get one you should be prepared to properly care for them and keep them forever.

This time, the economy might help reduce that effect.

Yep, but the effect is still the same. I really loved my parents' dogs, and saw a lot of them in Marley. My aunt and uncle had a yellow lab, and now have a chocolate lab.
Is the photo in your signature line a golden retriever or some other dog? Its ears have the longer hair like a golden.
You should go see this movie. I'm sure you'd love it, with your love of dogs. Don't worry about sobbing in the theater - EVERYONE does!

Denali, was my yellow Labrador Ret. and Dusti was my Golden Ret. They are both in Heaven now and they were the loves of my life. Labs as I am sure you know have a short coat and Goldens have a longer golden, redish, coat with hair that grows long and needs to be trimmed and groomed.
I really want to see the movie but not sure that my heart can take it now.
I watched a DVD last night named Chestnut about 2 orphaned girls finding a puppy, a Great Dane, and hiding it at the ophanage and then at their new home. It was really cute and made us sob, also. If you get a chance pick it up at Family Video, I think that it was in the nearly new section.
