If he had been betting on games he was playing in, I'd probably say no. I also understand the reason behind the rule and the penalty. But, I don't think this has any reflection on what he did as a player on the field and that is what the Hall of Fame should be about.

I'm really conflicted on this one. Rose really earned the "Charlie Hustle" moniker with his play on the field but he knew the rules.

On a recent ESPN broadcast, Orel Hershiser spoke about how serious the league was about Rule 21. He said they heard about it every single year and MLB made no bones about the consequences.

I can forgive him personally but it is the league that metes out the punishment.

Oh come on,attack the guy for his hair cut? Maybe your hair cut isn't what someone would like, or mine isn't what people would like. Did he have hair on his back? maybe we can attack him for that, Geeeeeeeeeeeez!

You're right.

We should just focus on the illegal gambling and his knowledge going into it that if were caught the ramifications would be severe.

That's right, we should be focusing on what he did, not how he cuts his hair or how he dresses.
And it's too bad that, that is how many people judge other people today.
