Mad Ants

Fort Wayne's new developmental league team is named the Mad Ants. You can read more (and see the logo) here:

Maybe it's just that I'm new to the area and don't have a proper historical perspective of Mad Anthony Wayne, but it seems odd to me to name a team after something that can be squished easily.

Apparently I'm not alone on this - Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly's editorial today says the Mad Ants "could be among the worst professional sports team names ever — right up there with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks".

I'm so happy they changed their name to just 'Ducks' instead of 'Mighty Ducks' before it was etched on The Cup.

Mad Ants?!? What?!? Fort Wayne, this is why people make fun of us here in the midwest. Surely we could have done better than that.
