I've been hearing and reading mixed reviews for Transformers. I haven't seen it yet. Other than to rekindle the little kid in me who remembers playing with them as a child is there any reason to see this movie? Have any of you?

I have not seen the movie but know 3 males who did. 22 year old loved it; 29 year old liked it and their father (50-something) disliked it. So I guess it all depends on what stage of life you are in or WERE in when the Transformers were the "thing". (I just remember them being all over the boy's floor and never being able to "transform" them!)

Well I decided to go see the movie this weekend. It wasn't bad, but it definitely could have been better. While I'm glad I decided to see it on the big screen (lots of cool effects and CG stuff) I guess in the end I wish I had gone and seen it at a matinee so I wouldn't have paid full price.

The actors did a good job with the script they were given but the writing was pretty bad. I was also surprised by the quantity of graphic language. I'm guess that it what earned it the PG-13 rating. The violence was pretty low key, mostly destroyed buildings, not much against people.

In some ways I walked away from the moving thinking things were a bit out of sync. In many ways it felt like they shot the kiddie version that probably would have been rated PG and added language and a few seconds of mutilation to bring it up to PG-13. But then those parts felt kind of out of place with the corney cheesie moments for a younger audience (picuture a large transformed robot "hiding" behind a tree.

"Transformers" will be released on DVD on Oct. 16. I'm going to try to resist the temptation to buy it and put it on my Christmas list instead, but it might be difficult. I enjoyed the movie, and I was impressed that it kept me entertained through numerous viewings in the theater, despite (or maybe because of) the corny, cheesy parts.

Anybody else planning to buy it on DVD?

I will buy it, because my 2 year old liked it. I saw very few parts in it to interest an adult.

PS I am a Star Wars fan
