Teen hires 'hit man' after parents confiscate PlayStation
"In Leonardtown, Maryland, a 17-year-old boy admitted in court Friday to trying to hire a hit man to kill his parents after he reportedly became angry at them for confiscating his PlayStation. According to police, Cory Ryder, 17, told the mother of one of his friends that he wanted his parents dead. The woman contacted authorities and detectives decided to set up a sting. Ryder was told to meet with a police officer posing as a hit man at a hotel. That’s where he offered the undercover officer his stepfather’s new pickup truck as payment for killing his parents," the article states....

Sounds like someone should have started whippin' this kid's arse many years ago. Spoiled brat! Now he's going to jail. Smart move.

Hold the phone there, James. My two boys still at home play that game and I can tell you neither one of them would pay someone to kill me for taking the system away. I have done it before and I would do it again, if need be. You are blaming a game for a teenager's actions. Much like blaming song lyrics for suicides and murder. Tsk tsk!

Actually just trying to get a discussion along that line going. I tried to click from the link Lucius posted to get the full story, but it wasn't working, so I couldn't figure out what other factors may have been involved.
We're all responsible for our own actions. The question is how much do such things play a part? Any thoughts?

Very good point
We live in a society where it seems to be acceptable to blame other people and things for our actions. The car didn't make me drive drunk, neither was it the bartender, or the beer commercial on the TV,
BUT
Maybe it was that can that twisted my arm!

If any of my kids ever tried to pay off someone to bump me off because I took away their playstation I would take away their gamecube, xbox and the WII!!
And what do you mean?? People are responsible for their own actions?? Come on! It must be society's fault or the government's or the violence on TV or he didn't get burped properly when he was an infant.

Ok, for now I'll take the nurture side of the argument. It's the parents fault. Yes, I think they managed to raised a teenager who wanted his parents out of his life....
Oh wait... hmm that covers just about every teenager I've ever known, though none of them threatened to speed up the process through the use of a hitman.

I don't know about where to find one, but if you wanted a teen hitman I suppose you could offer an I-Pod as the payment.
