Last night, I am assuming one of the two that are now nesting in Pokagon State Park was seen by a neighbor soaring around then diving toward Snow Lake to catch a fish. After success, the eagle went to a dead tree on the northeast edge of Pokagon's Snow Lake shore and perched, presumably to eat.

We went over to the neighbors and through binoculars were able to watch the eagle preening itself while perched high in the tree. The bird seemed rather comfortable, at home, in this tree and at the Lake James chain.

Seeing these majestic birds pass through during the winter has always been a treat. Watching one now making itself at home and going through its daily routine will be a great sight to behold.

For those of you who live out on the Lake James chain, particularly on Snow Lake where this armchair ornithologist believes the eagles will spend more time because of a less human activity, enjoy the view!
