I do know that both had the Boston store and A and W. I remember Westwood being the supermarket of choice, and Bowerman's butcher shop. And, I believe a roller rink called Silver moon.

    Red face Re: old memories

I remember most of the business listed but how about Best's Drug Store... the old fashioned soda fountain was my favorite place to visit. I loved going to Haffner's Five and Dime and stopping in at Stern's Menswear w/ my mom to pick out a tie for Dad.

I wish I could remember the name of the store the Kobiela sister's ran, next to Hoeffel's Meat Market. The had the greatest kiddie chairs in the shoe department. You'd sit on the back of a wooden duck, horse etc. and place your feet up front to get fitted for your shoes. They also had a sliding ladder to help them reach higher up items.

    Ahhhh... childhood memories!

I think that if you go to Applebee's they have a picture taken at the Silver Moon on their wall.....with a skating bear??? (The picture is near the hostess stand.) Was there really a skating bear or I am just having an acid flashback from the 60s?

Sugar, I think Gingery's Department store was the one you're thiking of, next to Hoeffel's. Didn't they have some yellow film of some sort over the front windows? Or maybe I'm having flashbacks! Or was at the time.
