Default How do you rate the governor?

A story by Brian Howey (see http://www.fwdailynews.com/articles/...ey/howey01.txt) reports that a poll of Indiana residents gives Governor Mitch Daniels a favorable rating of 57 percent, compared with 40 percent who view the governor unfavorably. Fifty-one percent said Indiana was headed on the right track, while 40 percent said it was on the wrong track.

What is your reaction to the poll? Do you think the governor is doing a good job, or would you have let the pollsters have an earful?

Gov. Daniels is attempting to run state government like a business. It's a new idea -- at least here in Indiana, where people appreciate change like they appreciate property taxes. Can it work? Time will tell. It's worth a try. At least we're dealing with a balanced state budget and have begun to pay back what was owed to schools and municipalities.

Red face Re: How do you rate the governor?

I have not been a fan of Mitch but maybe I am starting to change my mind a bit... didn't think too highly of the toll road lease. Maybe when all the road work is done I will change my tune.

Now he wants to put another toll road around Indianapolis called the Indiana Commerce Corridor... it would start in Noblesville at I69 and loop a few miles outside 465, all the way around the east/south side of the city and end at I-70 near the airport.

I thought this was a silly idea, too, but after living down here for a few weeks and hearing the traffic reports (constant stop-and-go backups around 96th-106th at 465 and 69) this might actually be a good idea. So many people are moving to the Northeast side of the city it would really thin things out up there... if people use it. Glad I live on the west side, though!

As a childless golfer, I LOVE Daylight Savings Time, but I see the point of people who hate the idea too.

I guess the jury is still out.

I like the way he is coming up with new ideas and he appears to be reaching out to all viewpoints. I thought his state of the state address was one of the best I have heard.
