It's on the rail of the sports pages today. I'm not sure if it made our AP feeds on the website or not.
Brad Miller made the rounds Thursday, apologizing to Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie, expressing embarrassment to coach Reggie Theus and issuing a statement echoing his "mistake."
Miller received a five-game suspension for violating terms of the NBA/National Basketball Players Association anti-drug program. The veteran center will serve his suspension without pay during the first five games next season.
The NBA did not disclose the nature of Miller's anti-drug violation. However, the most common reason for a five-game suspension under the league's anti-drug policy is testing positive for marijuana a third time.

I heard this yesterday. I was disappointed and saddened by the information.![]()
"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on the article of the Constitution which grants a right to Congress of expending, on the objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents."

I would not assume it was weed. He may have gotten hooked on pain killers after his surgery. Then again, it could have been the happy bud.

I saw it last night on tv. I was a little shocked. I am glad Brad has always given to his community. I am glad he has never forgot where he came from. Brad supports our community events all the time. I think this is a time the community needs to remember that. Have you not ever smoked marijuana or taken a prescription drug of someone else's? I would hope the community remembers all the good Brad has done and remember that he is human. We all make mistakes. His are just made public.

The article said the most common reason for a five-game suspension under the league's anti-drug policy is testing positive for marijuana a third time.
I would be willing to bet that 95% of the *role models* for our kids just ain't been caught doing what they ought NOT be doin.! I mean come on..people crucified sports figures for steroids, drinking problems and etc. Why should Mr. Miller be any different just because he *gives* to his community? So do most of the ones that been busted and crucified.

I'm glad, at least, that he seems to be handling it with a little grace. He's not taking the blame someone else route, he's apologized, he appears properly embarrassed by his mistakes. How a role model deals with adversity can be a lesson too.
Would you be willing to bet 95% of us normal people screw up on a daily basis? Just because they are in the limelight does not mean they are any different than the rest of us and do make bad decisions. Couldn't you have made the percentage just a little higher to just say everyone who has worked hard at their skills enough to become the best athletes in the world is "doin it but just not bein caught". Sounds like you have a problem with the Miller family in general. Where do you think he is being treated any different than anyone else? He is being punished by the league but evidently you want blood.
Nope. I'd be willing to be 100% of us do. and NO I don't have a problem with the miller family the only reason that statement was made was because of what seemed to be one sided forgiveness by concerned citizen. Yes Brad HAS done a lot for the community and yes I'm thankful for it. Point is why should HE be singled out to be forgiven when just as many others who give to their community are crucified because they make a mistake!
Pain killers would not be an issue. More than likely it is the good old wacky tobacky.
Sad to see a person with his skills, ability and willingness to give back to his own community do something so stupid. Why? WHo knows. Why does anybody do drugs? Hopefully he knocks the stupid **** off and get back to playing b-ball like he can.
We are all human, he has said he was sorry, hopefully he mean's it and move's on. We all make mistakes.
[QUOTE=LuciusBeebe;14552]I think you're ignoring something: pot is not a big deal.
Just out of curiousity, why do you think that pot is not a big deal?
Because I've never seen evidence that it is a big deal.
You don't think that its a mind-altering drug that changes how you brain works is no big deal. Its addicting. Most people that use more dangerous drugs start out by smoking marijuana. It affects your immune system. It creates the same problems as smoking cigarettes. These things are not a big deal. Frankly, I don't care if an adult want to smoke pot until they get behind the wheel, or the taxpayer becomes responsible for his health care, they no longer can support the family and if you don't think these things don't happen, you saddenly mistaken. I more concern on how they affect our younger generation. As adults, don't we have the responsibility of setting a good example.
Apples are good,
Oranges are bad,
Lemons are rude,
Bananas are perverted,
And kumquats are just, plain evil...
You're kidding, right!!! Then if you only disagree that pot is neither mind-altering or addicitive, then you must agree that it does affect the immune system, those that use dangerous drugs probably started on pot, and it affects you the same as cigarettes. Still seems like a big deal to me.
