Default Oh great, now we have to worry about our cheese too...

Another, in a long list of questionable products making their way in to our country...

Local residents would probably be immune to it anyway having been hardened by years of exposure to the toxicity of the Flint River.

True enough. I had tributary of that fine watershed that ran at the end of my block. It also ran past AC Delco - lets just say that I could always tell what color things were being painted by the color of the foam in Gilky Creek.

I know that this is almost impossible to do completely but read labels and try not to buy anything "Made In China" or many other countries for that matter, ie: Chile, Brazil, etc.

TRY TO BUY US, I am not suggesting that we do not have our problems here in the US but at least we try to have some standards.

Look closely at pet food, rawhide, chews, toys for pets, toys for children and anything else that you buy. I know that it is a little more expensive but in actually it is cheaper in the long run.

PLEASE TRY TO BY US PRODUCTS AND NOT FROM CHINA AND OTHER COUNTRIES.

In the 70's my dad had bumper stickers on his truck that said "America works when you buy American" and "Be American, Buy American". Nobody listened then, nobody will listen now.

You Dad was/is a smart man.

In my union halls parking lot in Alaska, IBEW #1547, there is a sign saying if you park a foreign made car in this lot, you will be towed at your expense. It did happen more than once.

I have to admit, I did not always drive an American made car but I do now. I did not always look at tags, I looked at price and of course you know what was cheaper-many times cheaper in quality, also. I look now and when possible I chose the USA.

I went to the Vera Bradley show in Fort Wayne, I bought nothing, all made in China. I looked at an older piece of Vera Bradley, made in the USA. Although these 2 women that started Vera Bradley are wealthy, perhaps they don't think wealthy enough so their product is made in China. Taking nothing away from these 2 very smart women other than their choice to go to China but many, many do and we demand it because we want a cheaper price. It is cheaper short term but long term-look at us now, no jobs, no money and everything made in China.

Remember when Wal-Mart (the evil empire) use to advertise their made in the USA labels, no more, you will be hard pressed to find much in Wal-Mart that is not made in China. I shop Wal-Mart as a last resort and that really does not happen often.

The only thing that I can do is buy American myself, may not make a difference but I am doing what is right.

I try, but it's harder every day to find anything made in USA.

Made in America is a bit of misnomer when it comes to cars. There are a lot of foreign companies that assemble cars here in the US. There are domestic companies that build their cars in Mexico and Canada. There are companies, both foreign and domestic, that assemble cars in the US, made primarily of parts manufactured elsewere.

Which one is "Made in America"?

Given the choice, i will tend to buy American made. But you are right, it is harder and harder to find products that are made here. Even the fresh fruit and vegetables that we eat in the winter are probably coming from South America.

I guess, I should say, now I drive a GM, wherever that is made, who knows.

Except, my husband is restoring my 1975 Triumph TR6 that I bought new in 1975, sold it in 1980 when I was in Alaska and tracked it down several years later, I went through the license bureau-they would tell you things like that back then-it had left Alaska, then to Oregon and then to Washington, we bought it back and it has been in pieces and parts until last year. It is now at the body shop ready to be picked up after being painted, new everything and now back to us for finishing touches, new seats, new carpet, etc.

It will be exciting to drive it again this summer.

I think GM puts that info on a sticker on the inside of your driver door.
