    Default Biscuits and Sausage Gravy

I can't cook... at all.... but I can make this and I friggin' love it!!!

    Ingredients:

    • 1 pound Bob Evans Original Recipe Sausage Roll
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 4 cups milk
    • Salt and black pepper to taste
    • 8 prepared buttermilk biscuits

    Directions:

Cook the biscuits per the instructions.

Crumble and cook sausage in large skillet over medium heat until browned. Stir in flour until dissolved. Gradually stir in milk. Cook gravy until thick and bubbly. Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot over biscuits. Refrigerate leftovers.

    Notes:

I also add some garlic powder for taste (because I'm a huge garlic fan).
Also, I've found that a very easy way to "crumble" the sausage roll is to use a potato masher while you're cooking it. Seriously, it works.

Biscuits and Sausage gravy is the best breakfast ever.

Fat free also right?!? Ah, who cares. Fill the plate!

    Recipe sounds good.

One of my neighbors has a recipe for sausage gravy that includes chopped hard-boiled eggs in the gravy. It's different. And good.

I love sausage gravy and biscuits. I also like to add some thinly sliced onions to the sausage, when browning it. Adds some nice flavor.

Mike, see if your neighbor will share that recipe? I've never tried one that included hard-boild eggs....would be interested if you say it is good?

    Thanks.

Will do. Just got off the phone with them a bit ago.

I will send an e-mail tomorrow.

It is really like a bechemel sauce with hard-cooked eggs, poured over sausage and biscuits, if memory serves.

    I'll keep you posted.

I have a Mexican friend that always puts hard boiled eggs in all of her gravy.

I had some friends surprise me one day by putting pancake syrup over biscuits and gravy. I was surprised at how good it was.The egg idea sounds interesting.

Did she just dice them up and otherwise use the basic sausage & gravy receipe? Do you know when she added them? I assume towards the end of the cooking of the gravy?

She used them in regular gravy, like for Thanksgiving. She sliced them up but I really don't know when she added them for sure. It was so weird to me but very good.
