This probably is a topic for the "Local Sports" forum. Of course, maybe some of these luminaries wouldn't be so comfortable seeing their whereabouts discussed openly in a forum.

Charlie Wills is in real estate in Madison, Wisconsin (where he played college basketball for my alma mater).

The Monday sports sections have been running a "Where are they now" feature for a few weeks now, usually with one athlete from each paper's coverage area.

I don't think Stackhouse has been profiled, but I forwarded your question to Ken Fillmore, so perhaps he'll be in a future column.

They are focusing on current college players that played at local high schools.

    Jeff Stackhouse is pushing 50.

I don't think the plan is that will always be the case, but Ken will have to say for sure.

I think this is a really great idea.

There are some state champion teams. What about a week focusing on the '86 DeKalb Football 4A state champs or EN or Angola, or anywhere else with past awesome teams, and profiling three stars from that team. Where are these former standout players today?

Another name I'd like to see eventually profiled is former DeKalb baseball standout Ty Cobbs (not to be confused with the Ty Cobb).

    Great idea!

I would say that you are absolutely right about Jeff Stackhouse. I played against him when he was my age now and I was playing college ball and he was still a scoring threat to be contended with.

Do you remember the Steuben team that played the big ten seniors in Fremont?? Stackhouse hit 2 o 3 threes in the last minute to beat them. I would say that he was in his late 30's or early 40's then.

You give him a three point line when he was in High School and the scoring record would NEVER have even been close to have been beaten.

Your so right, and in his senior year at georgia state, he averaged over 39 pts a game, and that was with-out the thre point shot not allowed at the time. And yes, he led the entire nation in scoring of all colledges and was given the "unsung hero award", by the espn sports analist. I cant remember this guys name who awarded the trophy, but he has a big mouth and talks so loud.

thanks for your complement on my idea of the where-abouts or past sports stars. I hope many more will post some information that will show our communities, that we will always care and remember about our beautiful memories during school years. Kindness to all.

Oh, relax, will you? I wasn't preying on your delicate sensitivities. I meant only his brother, Bill, was better.

thank you, but defending a man who has been descent as far as i am concerned, i was just trying to protect his credibility. sorry, no harm done. by the way, i know bill as well, and yes, he is also a very respectful man and i would defend bill and his family as well.

Fire up "Glory Days" by Bruce Springsteen, and you might understand.

Some of them might not be too happy having their past brought up either. For instance, one starter from Basil Mawbey's '75 and '76 basketball teams did some time in the Indiana State Penitentiary for possession of marijuana, hash and hash oil. Ouch!

I have no comment for this thread; I am just glad that there is another fan of "Joe's Garage" out there in cyberworld. Nicely done, Central Scrutinizer.
