    Default Rio

So, tell me about this bar. My wife and I have drove by slowly as we turned the corner.. looking closely at it and wondering if it's safe to enter. We're fascinated by the "Ribs are Ready" sign they put up every weekend but, the bikes surrounding the place give it a "biker bar" type feel.. so we've never stopped in. Now we have a baby traveling with us, so it might make it even harder to stop in.. but I'm willing to give it a try. Someone in the Angola forum said they have good burgers. Personally, I want to try the ribs. Either way, I'm just looking for some feedback on the place. This year will be the year I try it out. We visit the area all summer, so I'm sure I'll end up there eventually. Thanks in advance!

The Rio is run by some very nice folks. They're just a beer and wine bar, last I heard, so no whiskey/tequila chug-a-lug= no blacked out belligerent drunks. Really, they're no more of a biker bar than any other who participate in poker runs, etc.

Harleys are pretty much a yuppie thing anymore. But even then, clubbers are very often misjudged. A Bohemian lifestyle? Maybe, but most are family men and veterans, and more often than not some of the nicest people you'll meet.

I've always had to laugh at the redneck phrase-"Hippie-Biker".
    What do they drive, mopeds?

Would you feel better if it were surrounded by Mercedes and Bentleys? If you needed help changing a tire or getting a jump who do you think would be more willing (and happy) to help? The bikers would most likely lift your car high enough that you wouldn't have to bend over to loosen the lug nuts. Wake up! The Hells Angels are now The Over-The-Hill Gang.

So I take it none of you have actually gone there - you'd rather comment on the biker comment I made. I'm a biker myself, so biker bars don't scare me - I frequent those types of bars quite often.

Again, I'm wondering how the food is, what the atmosphere is like, etc. Can someone that's been there or goes there comment? Are the ribs really good? Is it a place you could sit down with a family or is it just a bar?

I sat at the bar and ate the burger and it was good.I did not look for afamily room or encounter any bikers although I don't ride at the present my friends do I don't concern myself with this issue unless it becomes an issue while I am there'and I have yet to see that happen.

It was probably your original wording "is it safe to enter".

The burgers are great and the beer is cold, sorry can't comment on the ribs, but I would be willing to take a chance on them.

The ribs are great! The Rio Burger is the best I've ever had. But you have to save room for their homemade pies.

The Rio has moved on down the road,( the old portside bar site) and Yes there is a Family room. The Family room is clean. This may be a Biker bar but they are local bikers an only want to have dinner an a drink. The bar side is that a bar, but thre food is out of this world good, price are good too. The Ribs melt off the bone an the service is quick. Don't forget to try the fi******.I been to Laker's and the food there is also great, but the Prices are just a little bit to high an service is way to slow it might be 20 mins before someone come to get your drink order. So if you are in Hamilton stop bye the Rio Bar you will not be disappointed..
