    Default Auburn BMV

Hubby went to get our plates renewed last month. They were due on March 7. He went in to pay and they told him they were completely out of the little stickers to put on your plates and that they would mail them to us.
So, they gave us those cardboard temporary plates to keep in our cars until our stickers come.
It has been like 10 days and we still have not received those stickers.
Well, today, I got a ticket for having my temporary tag, ( I was parked for more than 2 hours in a parking space) I think the chalk man thought the reason I had the temporary tag was because I was no longer going to have a handicap plate. That is not the case at all. I have the signed registration showing the plates were paid for on time and right on the registration it says HP for handicap plate. Anyway, Anyone else having issues getting their tags?
I tried to call the BMV and even though they are open on Tuesday, they do not conduct business over the phone. ARGH!!

I've heard similar stories which is why I avoid the Auburn BMV at all costs. When I have to go to the license bureau, I prefer to go to the one in Angola. They are polite, courteous, and I have never had to wait. Transactions are concluded quickly. For the last two years, I have chosen to renew online. One doesn't have to bother going to a license bureau and you save $5 besides. Doesn't sound like a lot but when you consider the hassles involved, the time and gas it takes to get there, it is worth it for me. From the time I renewed over their secure website, I had my tags in less than five days.

I enjoy the benefits of using the online renewal of my plates. I've not had any problems with that service at all. I've used the Auburn BMV in the past with no problems, however, not recently.

Sorry to hear of your mix up Mrs. Slotz. Hope they resolve it shortly.

In the past few years I have used online ordering to avoid the Auburn branch. This past year, we have used them twice, for stickers and drivers license renewal. Speedy service, in & out in less than 20 minutes. I was truly amazed.

I would fight the parking ticket though.

I saw a truck at the gas station that had an expired handicap plate on the bumper and a paper plate in the back window. It was registered in Noble county.

I have tried several times to get someone on the phone with the BMV, the line is always busy. I was not with hubby so I am not sure why they do not have the stickers. Maybe we are getting new plates, I just don't know. If they are mailing out new plates, won't the license number on the registration be incorrect?
BTW, I did fight the ticket and I was told to tear it up. Next year we will be doing everything on line.

Finally got a hold of a live person at the BMV. She told me that the plates are new this year and that the Plate # on the registration that we signed is the # of the temporary plate. It will take about 30 days to get the new plates. She told me to tape the temporary plate to the back window.
