Why is China ahead in clean energy? Perhaps they see the economic value?

I believe it could be because China has no respect for humanity and there goal is to be the wealthiest Nation. Eventually they will be able to control the world with their wealth because almost everyone borrows money from them. "The discovery in the late 1990s of copper, coltan, and other minerals in eastern Congo gave new life to a civil war that has now claimed upwards of 4 million lives. Flagging combatants were funded by mineral extraction, and much of those resources eventually flowed to China. The fact that violence is still simmering in eastern Congo -- and despite the costs that extraction imposes on the Congolese people -- has not been enough to deter Beijing from wooing Congo's government for access to the country's abundant resources." They are now looking at mineral rights in Afghanistan. Why our Country still borrows money from them and our companies want to give our jobs to them is very disturbing. I've put the links below regarding Afghanistan and one of the links included the information I put into quotes.

Last time I had talked with a group here in Angola that was sending thier work to China, they had said that the E.P.A. rules in China were that there are no E.P.A. rules. They had to build a building to store thier metals because here the metal that they stored outdoors here could not be stored outside in China because the caustic air would rust and pit the metal in a few days time, here they could leave it for as long as they needed with out this damage. The pictures that they had shared of the sights all had an orange haze that seemed to lay on the ground and the people had little white breathing masks on, I asked if that was during the bird flu and was told no they wore these during that time, but they wear them daily due to the bad air. this does not seem that they are ahead of the game it seems they are a little behind the times when it comes to Enviromental Protection?

So if the economical giant has green technologies then they need to get them in place NOW!!

China will use any and all energy sources available, green, brown, or black. Their use of African commodities stems from Africa being the easiest to exploit due to poverty/wide spread corruption which makes it a perfect target. However, they have an eye on commodities from many other nations as well. Beyond that, China is so good at manipulation of commodities prices, they make the most hard-core traders look like choir boys by comparison. China's goal is to develop their own economy, independent of US or any other country. They are building ten Houston-sized cities per year and will have more miles of "interstate" in the next decade than the US. Last year they sold more cars than the US. Asked by the US if they intended to sign a Kyoto-type treaty, the diplomat answered "You built your economy using more energy and commodities than all other countries combined and now you want to deny us the same opportunity??....not likely!". So don’t look for a Chinese equivalent of the EPA anytime soon.
Also of interest was a statement made by a Chinese Vice Foreign minister to a US corporate consultant: “Now that the free market has failed … what do you think is the proper role for the state in the economy?”
What we are witnessing is the emergence of the new strand of state capitalism which authoritarian governments have learned to compete internationally by embracing market driven capitalism. In some sense, these governments have managed to utilize wealth creation to show their legitimacy of their rule in the country. China and Russia have successfully incorporated state capitalism after the end of Cold War. They promote companies or businesses which benefit the state and play down companies that are out of favor. And don’t think all this is going unnoticed in India!!

Apparently, LB, you did not read the original link that started this thread? It was ABC News who titled the article in this manner. Yes, LB, we all know that China is one of the greatest contributers to our worlds pollution. No rocket science needed to understand that! I would point your attention back to the original article to understand the topic and the title better.

Bigkneedgal, Wickedacoustic, and 2cents, I have appreciated reading each of your postings. I do not like that our nation is borrowing money from China at all. It causes me great concern. I also don't like seeing them jump all over start up businesses such as is mentioned in the article from ABC on the American Vet with a green solar business plan. In my opinion, they have no care for the 'green' aspect of his business - they simply are aware of the market value of such technologies and are positioning themselves to capitalize on owning as much of the US and it's businesses as possible.
