2011 will mark the fifth consecutive year Noble County employees will NOT receive a raise. I just wanted to express my thanks to the Noble County Council (sarcasm!).

far too many in none government jobs have NO paychecks anymore. Due to no fault of the employees. I understand the desire for a raise, but in these economic times - many would be thankful for simple stability at this time.

Ahhhh, suprising. Be happy to have a job!! It was not based (from my best understanding) on lack of funds.

We didn't get a raise either. They took $3.00 an hr. away this year.
Even if they have the money now, I do know that some of the smarter cities and counties are saving their money because the state has informed them that there will be additional cuts in revenue next year. I'm guessing they're probably saving their money so they don't have to lay off workers next year.

I understand that people are losing their jobs and we should "feel lucky to have a paycheck". What people seem to forget is that the County employees have not received a raise for 5 years. There is no "cost of living" raise and it was decided at the beginning of this year that employees were to work until 4:30pm. (without a raise). So, they require more hours and less pay. I believe the vote to not give raises was more based on what the public would think rather than if there is money in the funds.
Ok, I'll be blunt. We haven't forgotten anything, we're just not going to cry for someone who is receiving a steady income when many of us have suffered pay cuts and layoffs. They were absolutely right about what the public thinks. Quit your crying and be happy you have a job.

That's right. I'm sorry you haven't gotten your raise in years. Neither have I. The difference between you and I is I realize that there are many people out there willing to take my job in a second if I decided I wasn't being paid enough.
So yes, be happy you have a job. You have no idea what its like these days. And don't even try to contradict that statement. If you knew, you wouldn't be so indignant about not getting a raise.
Times are tough. But they're easier for you than for others for the simple fact that you're employed.
I wonder if the letter that Commissioner Joy LeCount wrote to the council telling them that she felt the county employees shouldn't get raises had anything to do with it? You know that she thinks that county employees already get paid too much and all have "kushy" jobs anyway.
My favorite quote from the article was from Don Moore when he said "They have a job. That is their raise". You tell 'em Don! If they don't like it, they can get out!![]()
IF I should post my thoughts further on this topic they would only duplicate the postings of HairP, LB and Kingster. Government workers wages are paid from the earnings of their local tax payers. IF you see your local tax payers suffering from lack of wages, perhaps you can get a clue? Money is tight for ALL working people. Find a place for heartfelt thankfullness. You have a stable paycheck. Back up and check your other options, enter into the free market and see just how stable that is for anyone these days.

Just go in with the attitude that you get what you pay for. They'll get the idea.
And don't expect any sympathy from this board. I just come here for a good laugh and to see who's hating on who. It's rather comical most of the time.

I didn't say don't do anything. It's just the Fenceposters (FP's) jumping on a negative. Thanks for another laugh. Point proven!
"You get what you pay for" Nothing more, nothing less. Do your job, but don't be the good little employee who goes a little farther than needed. Just be an employee and nothing more. It's not like County Government has any room for furthering a career, so your not going to hurt your career.
They have a couple choices. Do enough to get by, or understand that everybody will take one for the team. Regardless of the choice they will still be employed. As time goes on there will be more and more taking the first choice, like it or not.
Before I get molested by a gaggle of FP's.... I believe in taking one for the team and sucking it up until things get better.
Doing the bare minimum is a great way to get a raise.
Their not getting a raise for doing what their doing.... Besides, reading the quotes in the paper, raises are based off of facing the public and not what the workers are doing.
None the less I just heard they got a raise 2 years ago but didn't notice it because there was something about an extra pay check that year.?.?. Might not be true, but I believed the source.
I do feel bad for them. Most people that I know have received at least 3 cost of living raises in the last 5 years. But thats just me. The Noble County Employees that I know go above and beyond and will continue to do so because they enjoy their jobs and working with the people.
