Default Herman Cain announces Presidential Exploratory Committee

Herman Cain, former CEO of Godfather's Pizza, announces creation of a Presidential Exploratory Committee. Will Mr Cain, a successful businessman and tea party favorite, become the second black American President? As a Washington outsider will he pull votes from the established candidates? Will the black voters swing from President Obama to Mr Cain? Next two years are going to be real interesting.
I didn't know about it until you did and I can't comment on a pending case!!!!!

Sounds like somebody has been watching too much MSNBC.

I don't know if Tea Party Members skew towards racist views, but there are some interesting demographic insights into the group that came out a NYT/CBS News poll last April. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/15/us...poll.html?_r=1

They are predominantly white, older, and wealthier than the average American. They are predominantly Republican. They oppose Obama at rates that are far higher than other Americans. They are deeply pessimistic about the direction of the country, more pessimistic than other demographic groups.

They want to reduce the size of government, yet do not want to cut Medicare or Social Security, programs that benefit this older demographic.

I will go out on a limb and suggest that many Tea Party Members understand that wealth and power in America, and in the world in general, is moving away and shifiting south and east. Hispanics and Asians are ascending in America. China, Brazil and India and Russia are emerging as the future center of economic power.

Tea Party members have never known a time when their demographic did not dominate American politics, or probably dominate world politics. Power is slipping away from them and they fear that prospect.

But demographics is destiny. I do not know if the Tea Party has much of a future in American politics. But given the changes in the direction of the world, Tea Party members will not get the future they desire.

No, your humor worked. I just remembered this article on the Tea Party and wanted to throw out some thoughts I had.

Ever heard the expression "cut off your nose to spite your face?" A population who will elect an imbecile like Shrub to two terms simply isn't smart enough to tie it's own shoes... Now then, when should we expect that the newly-elected will, have everything righted?

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the Tea Party. If the economy continues as is, a candidate like Herman Cain becomes viable. He's a Washington outsider, a successful businessman that can carry the Tea Party vote, and is also capable of carrying the minority vote. When you compare him with Palin, Huckabee, or Gingrich he becomes an interesting candidate. Personally, if he does decide to run I am going to take a hard look. Also, heard that Trump is also considering running, but I think he has too much baggage.

The muskrat he has on his head should disqualify him from running. Honestly, how can someone with virtually unlimited resources not spend a few bucks on a decent rug or some implants?

    Homey,

I am not dismissing the Tea party out of hand. But few of these movements have historically hung on. Compared to the candidates you mention, he is interesting. But I believe that Romney will be the 2012 candidate. I believe the political landscape in 2012 will present a better economic climate, a climate which will be more favorable to Obama. So Romney presents a choice that will appear more presidential against Obama and a candidate that can sustain a long and expensive campaign.

However, I do not think that Cain, or any Republican candidate, can draw a large amount of minoirity voters. Alan Keyes is a black conservative and has made a presidential and senatorial run. He had little success.
Also, Cain also has a history of stage 4 cancer, which is in remission. This issue will not go unnoticed.

The Tea Party's namesake, The Boston Tea Party, had a profound impact on the direction of this country and as some say it was the spark that ignited the American Revolution. Will it ignite a change of direction for this country, don't know, we will just have to wait and see.

Other then the color of their skin, I don't see much of a comparison between Keyes and Cain. Keyes is a political activist where Cain is a successful businessman and that is the direction I would emphasize.

His health may become an issue but with the advances of today's medical technology, I don't think it is as much of an issue as it use to be.

Contrary to belief, Trump does NOT wear a tupai.

What about a toupee? Isn't a tupai some sort of marsupial?

Also, the point remains that he ought to be able to afford a decent haircut if it is his real hair. Great Clips could improve on that thing he is sporting...
