After asking for input, the Mayor of Fort Wayne has named the new Government building, not for the #1 choice, but instead a minor unimaginative name that only received 5 votes in the online poll.

Well, Fort Wayne got national coverage and quite a few laughs across the country as the name selection was being considered. Citizens Square is awful boring, but I'll take it above the option of Harry Baals.

It’s sad that people have to be this immature that they can’t respect a man that truly loved Fort Wayne. This was his name and now his legacy is tarnished because of overly sensitive people. Yes tarnished because now when his name is mentioned THIS will be how he is remembered.

The mayor made a mistake. There are a lot of people who might stop in Fort Wayne just to snap a photo of the big Harry Baals center. His decision is a blow to tourism. I'm being serious.

Actually, I think no matter how or when his name is mentioned, his name itself is what people will be laughing about.

I think its getting more publicity now because they refused to name it the Harry Baals Center. I agree with TLC, for an adolescent its probably funny, for the rest of us its just a name.

Citizens Square...it sounds like something you'd encounter in Russia or China.

On a WANE TV news interview a few days ago, Mayor Henry gave hint of naming something inside the building after Harry Baals...but it'll probably be the men's room!
