Default Touch of India in Ft. Wayne

I was surprised to find an Indian restaurant in the area. Wasn't Chippawa Indian so didn't find the meal of vension and squash I was craving BUT Touch of India in Ft. Wayne is great! I can highly recommend the Chicken or Lamb Curry....delicious meal and fills you up! If you haven't before tried Indian food...it's wonderful...warm spicy goodness.

I took the Hoosier husband who is reluctant to try anything new...claimed he didn't like Indian food yet later admitted he had never tried it. He's a big fan now and will mention Touch of India as top places he likes to eat at.

Chippewa and all other *tribes* are NATIVE AMERICANS not Indian.

I think she was being facetious when she made a reference to Indian food and venison and squash.

I went to school with Chippawas in Michigan...they prefer NOT to be called "native americans". I will explain why, I was told they prefer to be called "Indians" because all the treaties they have made say "Indians" if "Indians" are replaced with "Native Americans" then those treaties could be negated. Sounds pretty simple to me and if they want to be called "Indians" then that is what I have always done.

And Hello Rita, my mother is an RN and all my aunts are. They went to St. Mary's Nursing School in Saginaw, MI back when there was one.

I was trying for humor too hence the reference to venison and squash which I really do like as well. The Shawnee no longer of Indiana but of Oklahoma also prefer to be called "Indians" for the same treaty reason. It's understandable as Michigan still has our Indians and the Indiana ones were relocated like the Shawnee were. I believe that goes back to Harrison and the Shawnee not getting along very well at all. When Indians correct you for calling them "Native Americans" then you call them as they wish to be.

My daughter in law is Native American and doesn't mind being referred to as Indian either. My Son likes to wear his cowboy hat and my husband asks them if they play cowboys and Indians. It's cute...they laugh.

    Be surprised not.
Check out 800 Degrees Pizza for authentic traditional Italian pizza.
Check out Baan Thai for some great Thai cuisine.
Downtown Pizza is also a great downtown find, as is Pint & Slice.
Check our Paula's on Main as well.

    Enjoy your eats.
