Pickled okra is pretty good also.
Ok, I admit it, I am one of the few okra lovers in the Northern States. I grow it every year and very little makes it out of the garden, until now. I was grilling some really nice ribeye steaks last night and threw some okra on the grill just to try it. (Been watching too much BBQ-U lately) Think I'll grill some more steaks tonight just so I can throw more okra on.

I love fried okra. One of my favorite summer dishes is fried okra with fresh sliced tomatoes on the side. My mother makes it the best. She tosses her okra in a cornmeal/egg mixture before frying. I've never been able to quite duplicate her. She learned from my grandmother when she was growing up in NE Georgia. She's sure got it down!
So. hairy, when you grill yours do you coat it with anything?

No, I just throw it on and turn it until it's just blackened all around. I'm going to try some other recipes. http://www.chefrick.com/?s=okra

I never thought there is someone who likes okra so much. I only eat boiled okra. The other way is when it is mixed with the other vegetables. I wanted to try your grilled okra then.![]()
