You better do some checking as AFN broadcast over public airwaves? They are no different than NBC, CBS, ABC or Fox
I didn't know about it until you did and I can't comment on a pending case!!!!!

no. i'm saying that anyone can make one of those petitions. that is why it's not a very credible source.

try it, it's easy. everyone has the right to petition the white house. stop flapping you gums here and make a petition for something you believe in.

Correct me if I am wrong, Homey, but I don't believe the Pentagon decides what is broadcast over NBC, CBS, ABC or Fox.

How is the world did you come to the conclusion that I said the Pentagon decides what the major networks broadcast. I am saying that AFN is a network like the others and broadcast over public airwaves.

And what it broadcasts is controled by the Pentagon. Read this line of this link.....
"There are no plans to remove Rush Limbaugh‘s radio program from Armed Forces Radio Network, according to Pentagon spokesman George Little."

You are absolutely right. I erred when I said they broadcast over public airways when in actuality AFN broadcast over military networks. You are also right that the Pentagon does not decide what is broadcasted over the major networks, but they do decide which programs they want to broadcast and they are commercial free but once in a while a part of a commercial may be broadcasted but it is strictly unintentional. I have a fundamental belief on public personalities, if you don't like what they say you can have your personal boycott by changing stations or turning off the TV/radio.

You and I both know armed forces radio does not, and doesn't have to follow fcc rules. Nor do they have the freedom to publish what they want. That would come from, you guessed it, the man in your article. the military is not democratic! And you are wrong, they have their own radios, I know, I used to operate one of the sites.

exactly holmes! and if the owner of a radio station doesn't like it, he has a right to change the programming and/or turn it off.

If he does it under his own volition and not succumb to mob rule.

I can't believe you are hiding behind the fact that he is a comedian therefore it is permissible to make vile comments about any woman. If you believe he violated the airways by soliciting porn then you need to petition the FCC instead of urging sponsors to drop their advertising.

The most comparable example of what occurred on Rush's show last week would be the Ed Schultz show in May of 2011. The difference is that Ed only made the reference ONCE on MSNBC of calling Laura Ingraham a SL***. Rush made his first insulting remarks regarding Sandra Fluke on Wed. He doubled down on Thursday and again on Friday, expanding his offensive remarks towards her and other Georgetown University females.

MSNBC management met with Ed Schultz this afternoon and accepted his offer to take one week of unpaid leave for the remarks he made yesterday on his radio program. Ed will address these remarks on his show tonight, and immediately following begin his leave. Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Rush didn't even come close to making this kind of acknowledgment of his offense and violation of the free airways. So no class Rush moves on, and so do I. My radio dial will NOT be tuned into his show once again. I will continue to boycott any remaining advertisers on his show. The only way I will know who these are is because I am now on a mailing list that will notify me of who are remaining. Should Rush have made a much more sincere apology and perhaps taken efforts such as Ed Schultz did last May, I would NOT be boycotting these advertisers. I disapproved of Ed Schultz's remark (which was not amplified as Rush's was) yet he was able to man up and say 'I did wrong' and take a voluntary penalty.

Others who have made insulting and obscene remarks on public radio or tv have found it necessary to go on paid airways. (Howard Stern, Bill Maher, etc) I do agree that liberals need to move on past these hateful remarks (less we begin to resemble Rush and his trash talk).

The only reason we didn't have a thread on FP regarding Ed Schultz and his offense is because he fully acknowledged his offense and made a public effort to express his regret by stepping down from his show for 1 week without pay. This thread and a previous one have been worthy of discussion.

I agree with Blue on this one. I have filed an FCC complaint against Rush for the promotion of pornography in the way of soliciting video tapes of women who take birth control pills and his request that these tapes be shared with men such as himself.

Big difference between a comedian and a political pundit. Rush has chosen to comment from a base of authority & influence on political matters, yet, he retreats when challenged under the umbrella of an entertainer. Most convenient!

Sorry, I do not mean to keep going on this. The no comparison thing due to popularity/title/position just don't fly with me. I know why Rush is treated differently and you do too.

    Helen,

I'm surprised that you, as a woman, would give a free pass to anyone even if he is a comedian. Here's a news breaker, at least for me and if anyone else have previously mentioned it I apologize, but I just heard that Bill Maher is defending Rush Limbaugh by saying he accepted his apology and he called out the liberals for their continuous criticism of Limbaugh.
