There are other 'industries' making big profits for 'outside interests' besides oil and mineral mining.

This morning as I was reading the AP story on yet another Afghan policeman turning his weapon on 2 of our U.S. service members and killing them, I just groaned. This particular Afghan was recruited only 5 days earlier to a village defense force. This is the 6th similar incident in the past 2 weeks.
We have certainly spent far too many years, lives, resources, and money to train and rebuild their country already. Why on earth can they not use their own military police who have already been trained to pass this training on within their country? As far as the U.S. continuing to dump more money and resources into this bottomless pit…I ask WHY?
A friend of mine referred me to the following link.
The answer is pretty well spelled out in this article: http://www.fpif.org/articles/afghanistans_energy_war
Nothing says profit to corporations like offering to "help" rebuild a country's infrastructure, or "help" them process their natural resources, after we have bombed them back to the stone age.
Our years of war in Iraq succeeded in transforming the country’s oil industry from a nationalized model, largely closed to American oil companies, into an all but privatized industry open to foreign oil companies. ExxonMobil and BP, among other companies, are today producing oil in Iraq for the first time in over 30 years under some of the most corporate-friendly terms in the world.
The goal is for the same result in Afghanistan. Again, the corporate people benefit from the loss of our lives, resources, and tax dollars. Yet they continue to hold out their other hand for subsidies on oil production and lower tax rates. Meanwhile they oppose all green energy efforts. When will our citizens say ‘Enough’ with corporate welfare to the oil companies?

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

True...I should probably said 'When will our citizens say ‘Enough’ with corporate welfare as they use our military, investments of our tax dollars in their infrastructure in these lands who are hostile to us'? Why not free up all our wasted $ going into building hostile nations when we need to be investing in our own infrastructure, creating jobs at home, better educating our own citizens? EDUCATION is a national security issue and we are ignoring it. For God's sake we are importing foreigners and educating them in our own universities, supported again by our own tax dollars.
Yes, I realize everyone is looking at this age old problem and saying .... 'So what is new?' Well, it's new to families who are being notified of the loss of life of the sons & daughters, fathers & mothers. It's new tax money being poured into an old empty money pit with no national return on our investment. The monies being poured into these hostile nations prevent us from bringing our national debt under control. Our priority should be on raising the standard of education here 1st.

There are many Youtubes to watch that clearly show what a westernized country Afghanistan was prior to the Russians invading in 1979, and our subsequent meddling that empowered the Mujadeen (now the Taliban)....Where Afghanistan is today is the result of the 'back to the stone age' mentality of our's and Russia's disgusting murderous foreign policy. To the Taliban's credit, they DID have opium nearly eradicated before we showed up. Certain elite consider too much drug money going to 'criminals' is a threat to our security, so they've decided to draw off some of that money to 'secure' us. It happened in Vietnam too, as well as Central and South America with cocaine. The elite of this world are not held accountable, and do as they please.

The U.S. fuels a great demand for drugs, oil, etc from other nations. The tactics used by the drug cartels is gruesome, however, so is the death of our military being spent to support the profits of the elite (often American Corps).
Consider all the middle class and poor in the U.S. who are loosing their jobs, their homes, their abilities to care for their families, their opportunities for a quality education at the expense of larger profits for the elite powerful corporations.
Our corporations are polluting our own environment (BP in the Gulf), subsidizing their costs of production of oil whether drilled here or in other parts of this world with our tax dollars.
Then we sacrifice the lives of our military, we build other nations infrastructure rather than our own, and gift them with billions in hopes of building a friendship with their nation. (I've lived long enough to understand those type of friendships are of NO VALUE).
I understand our nation has this goal of seeing this large oil pipeline finished in Afghanistan before we pull out. If we want to see the contracts given to American oil companies....how about letting the American Oil companies spend their own darn money on securing the building of that pipeline? They use our military to secure these locations at our expense. They use our subsidies to cut their costs of production once they have the contracts. When they receive their extreme profits, they demand to not pay an equal share of taxes compared to the common citizens.
