Fort Wayne Air Show - Awesome
My 1st time to attend an airshow was yesterday. I absolutely will not wait so long to attend my next one. The stunt planes gave us quite a show while leaving my heart stuck in my throat frequently. The US Army Golden Knights skydiving was so beautiful. We did get to see a F-22 Raptor showing off it's amazing capabilities. I would have loved to see the full team demo of the F-22 Raptors, unfortunately we got rained out before that occurred. Many shock and awe moments when the warthogs dropped their explosives and they did give us a show with a wall of fire before we left.
I was impressed at the size of the crowd, I was hearing estimates of 45,000. Getting into the show was a breeze, very well organized with hundreds of school buses acting as shuttles getting us from the parking lots into the show. All of this was free. Prices were a bit on the high side if you wanted a bottle of water ($3.00), or a hot dog ($4.00), plastic cup of Coors ($7.00). We decided to pass on the food and drinks, however, there was an abundance of sales. The diversity of the crowd (racially and generational) in attendance impressed me and I was happy to see how many Amish also showed up.
When they ended the show early due to the rain, getting out of the large grass field parking lots was an exercise in patience. I don't believe they expected 45,000 people to all decide to leave at exactly the same time. It took us 2+ hours to get out of the parking lot. No regrets, still happy that we went. Will absolutely go again. Very exciting.
