Default Boyd vs Stutzman for 3rd District

With our November elections fast approaching, I encourage all of our voters to become well informed as to individual candidates stand on issues that are important to us rather than to only vote along party lines. It is in this spirit of thinking that I ask our voters to consider Kevin Boyd's stand on issues compared to Marlin Stutzman's in the upcoming election.

Compare the Candidates Boyd vs Stutzman

Why should Kevin represent you in Congress? Compare the candidates and decide who's best for Hoosiers in the third district.

Kevin Boyd will work with opposing views to pass legislation to protect farmers.

His opponent is leading the fight to prevent passage of the five year farm bill, which expires this fall.

Kevin Boyd will work to protect Social Security and Medicare.

His opponent has endorsed Richard Mourdock, who believes Social Security and Medicare are unconstitutional, as a mainstream republican

Kevin Boyd will fight for funding for Fort Wayne's Air National Guard's 122nd Fighter Wing.

His opponent failed to bring any projects to the Air National Guard's 122nd Fighter Wing or VA Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Kevin Boyd will work with opposing views to pass a responsible budget, bring jobs to northeastern Indiana, and get America back on track.

His opponent, along with his republican colleagues, have not passed a budget since taking office, instead supporting stop gap measures that do nothing more than continue our economic problems.

Kevin Boyd will work to strengthen public schools and ensure that all children have access to a high quality education.

His opponent supports private education, which only helps for-profit companies in the so-called "education industry."

Does anyone have an update on this story from July 19, 2012? Is there going to be a debate on Oct 17, 2012?

    Boyd-Stutzman debate in planning stage

Three groups are trying to put together a debate on education issues between Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-3rd, and Democratic challenger Kevin Boyd.

Boyd announced this week that he has accepted an invitation to debate Stutzman on Oct. 17. He said the debate is being sponsored by The Educational Opportunity Center, the Fort Wayne League of Women Voters and the Northeast Indiana Friends of Public Education.

Kelley Renz of The Educational Opportunity Center confirmed Thursday that debate invitations have been sent out, but she said organizers have not heard back from Stutzman's campaign.

A Stutzman aide said he was unaware of the invitation.

"We've not heard anything about that debate," Tim Harris, Stutzman's chief of staff, said Thursday in an email.

Stutzman is a coward who will run from all debates.

I heard a fairly reliable rumor today that a press release will be made next week regarding this debate. Personally, I am looking forward to the details of the debate and hope to attend.

I was shocked when I had heard it a couple evenings before of what former President Bill Clinton brought up at the DNC convention that one of the major Congressional members had said two years prior to the convention it was their job to see to it that this President was not elected again. The statement was made in an documentary of Ted Kennedy when I first had heard it a couple evenings before.

But two years, the big 2 tells us all what a do nothing Congress has been doing for our greater healthcare at the Fort Wayne V.A. and if they can do it to we Vets how much more is it possible in other areas needing legislative action? And after this President said we were to get a new Fort Wayne V.A. facility and then who our current Congressman had replaced went public and said we didn't have the nerve to ask for that...it appears to me like that part of we has a mouse in their pocket.

Thanks for bringing that up Helen because I hope those V.A. concerns would come up in such a debate as well. I had even heard our Senator Coats has inquired of that rubber stamping that had done away with one of the first shovel ready projects that was in this Presidents bucket list to do.

I very much plan on attending this debate. The big money Republicans are of course behind Stutzman. Yet, how Stutzman is representing our local Hoosiers and our Vets is missing. I sincerely hope other vets such as you CopyCat will recognize this before the election.

I wonder if they'll have anywhere to pose talking points...better to just break out a pen on that one I guess. This latest spike in gas has me thinking about that particular straw of the proverb? that broke the camels back.
