    Default World Series

I was looking back at the thread from the beginning of the baseball, and noticed that the picks for the World Series included the White Sox, Mets and Cardinals as well as the Cubs and Yankees. (The Cubbies did their best to give the division away, but the Brewers wouldn't take it.)

The postseason starts Wednesday, and your choices for World Series champ are the Angels, Red Sox, Yankees, Indians, Cubs, Diamondbacks, Rockies and Phillies. Ken Fillmore today picked it to be the Angels over the D-Backs in the Series:

    What's your pick?

Sentimental pick: Cubs v Red Sox in series.

As unbiased as I can be pick: Cubs v Angels

Though Cubs v Indians would be cool.

Heck, Cubs v anyone in the Series would be cool.

Red Sox over Phillies, although I'm rooting for the Cubs.

I agree, the Cubs vs. anybody in the World Series would be great. My gosh, the last time the Cubs reached the WS, my parents were just toddlers!

On a completely different note, what does everybody think about the last play of the Colorado-San Diego playoff game? Was the umpire not watching the play or did he just assume the Colorado player touched the plate?

I say this after watching the replay countless times. It just seems the umpire was a bit out of position and didn't have a good view of what happened. My dad umpired Little League games for years and has always said an umpire needs to be in position to make a call.

I really didn't care who won the game and I would hate for instant replay to come into baseball, but this very play would be a good reason for it.

After last night’s tough loss in Phoenix, (the second in two playoff games), the Chicago Cub fans are tired of this same old post-season scenario. But there’s still hope that those lovable North Siders will turn it around before it’s too late.
One other team in Cubs history did it. In 1935, the Cubs were buried 10 and a half games behind the New York Giants on July 5 with a 38-32 record, but won 62 of their final 84 games, including a 21-game winning streak from September 4 through September 27, to win the N.L. pennant by four games over St. Louis.
A 21-game win streak — Wow! Cub fans would settle for a 15-game win streak about now, giving the Cubs their first World Series crown in 99 years. All they really need is to win 11 of the next 17. Hey, the White Sox did it two years ago, winning 11 of 12 playoff games. It could be done — but I won’t bet on it. They are the Cubs.
