was Christ a republican, or a communist, socialist?
I am truly impressed that the far right has continued to use the term socialist, and or communist not only interchageably and wrong, but totaly ignoring the implications of their own religious teachings. It is like that spot in the movie "The name of the Rose" by Umberto Echo, where the Franciscans and benedictins are meeting to discuss whether Christ owned the clothes on his back. The church did exactly as the republican party did, and turned the real point against the Franciscans, by using the argument that if they were correct Christ wouldn't have owned the clothes on his back, when the point was Christ taught that you couldn't serve two masters, one of which was money. The republicans have had this little turn on words themselves by using the "Christians deserve good things too" argument, entirely ,missing the point. If you look at Christ and his teachings you see a redistribution of wealth, helping the poor without the distinction of freeloaders, and you see communal living. Bring it on!
