    Default Evil Santa is Back

Nothing says "Merry Christmas" more than having a grotesque, psychotic-looking Santa Claus in front of your store, frightening children and (to be honest) many adults.

Chucky has NOTHING on this evil doll!

It reminds me a bit of Charlie the Choo-Choo from Stephen King's "The Waste Lands" (from the Dark Tower series):

    charlie.jpg

"Jake supposed Engineer Bob's smile was supposed to convey supreme happiness, but to him it looked like the grin of a lunatic. Charlie and Engineer Bob both looked like lunatics ... and the more Jake looked at the kids, the more he thought their expressions looked like grimaces of terror. Let us off this train, those faces seemed to say. Please, just let us off this train alive."

I'm sorry, but Charlie would take one look at this Santa and drive himself off the bridge at Lud.

I don't know. Somehow I could see the two of them working together to deliver whatever it is a dark Santa would deliver. I don't think reindeer would last too long around your Santa.

The so-called "Evil Santa" is in front of Touch of Lace, a women's clothing store, at 111 N. Wayne St., Angola.

    Look at these eyes:

These are the eyes of someone who looks at people and wonders how well their skins would fit.

He's probably bitter because he doesn't have any pupils.

You don't see Annie or Barney Rubble frightening children.

These photos fail to capture the true hilarity of his legs, or the tattered nature of his suit.

    a) That was as close to it as I wanted to get, and
    b) it is important to maintain eye-contact to avoid attack.

I thought that looked like Wayne Street looking southward at the Mound, but I didn't want to embarrass myself. I wonder what store was there back in the day...

Yes, but Kumquat did catch the perfect angle if you want to crop the photo and do goofy things with it in PhotoShop, such as, say, creating a photo of Evil Santa collaborating with Osama bin Laden.

(A couple years ago there were a ton of this type of photo floating around Chicago featuring Steve Bartman, the fan who had the misfortune to interfere with Moises Alou's attempt to catch a foul ball before the Cubs collapsed in the National League playoffs. My favorite was Bartman lighting a match under the Hindenburg.)

Now you editing people should combine news topics and make Evel Santa, and put him on a bike.

P.S. I think my Osama photo was inspired by the "Osama and Evil Bert" photos that popped up on real protest signs a few years ago. If you don't remember it, there's a good summary here:
