Ed Hindenlang and his grandson Miles Jackson, 6, were recently fishing for bluegill at Little Long Lake in Kendallville.
All of a sudden the four-pound line started screaming as Miles was holding onto the pole. He said to his grandpa, “Uh, Grandpa, I need help!!”
After a ten-minute battle the two of them found they had battled a 15 pound channel catfish, which was 30 inches long. Once they saw the fish, Miles ran for the net (which Grandpa hoped was not too old and rotted) and the fish was netted, and later released.
