CHESTERTON — Indiana Dunes State Park and the Friends of Indiana Dunes group will offer three-day nature camps again this summer for students ages 7 to 14.
The camps provide an opportunity to explore the dunes and their plants and animals, and humans’ connection to the land. Three separate sessions will be offered.
The Dunes Explorer Camp is offered June 19-21, and again July 31-Aug. 2. It includes a one-night camping experience for children ages 9 to 14.
The Budding Naturalist Day Camp is July 17-19, and is for 7- to 12-year-olds.
Each camp costs $95 and includes food, activities, supplies and a special summer camp T-shirt.
“With many high-priced summer camps out there, we seek to provide a low-cost alternative that helps to forge a connection with the amazing resources contained in the Indiana dunes,” said Brad Bumgardner, park interpreter.
Registration is required and space is limited to the first 20 children for each session.
Campers can pick up a flyer and registration form at the park office or nature center or at friendsofindianadunes.org. Details are at 219- 926-1390.
Indiana Dunes State Park is at 1600 North C.R. 25E, Chesterton.
