KENDALLVILLE — Six members attended the Jan. 29 of the Lunker Hunter Spoonpluggers.

Charlie Myers mentioned that he learns a lot from the Spoonpluggers Forum online since many prominent Spoonpluggers make comments and information. Check out spoonplugger.net.

Larry Simonsen has done much in planning a calendar as a guide for our fishing activities. We discussed and added many items of interest, including monthly target lakes, proposed outings, swap meet, and all Spoonplugger outings. We hope to have a digital copy of the new calendar sent out fairly soon.

It was great to see Jim VanAsselt join us at the board meeting. He proposed having a youth tournament that he would be willing to help with. A date was set for Saturday, Aug. 7 with a lake to be determined later. This has been one of our favorite events (for the youth also). Larry has been looking for a boat trailer for his 14-foot boat, so if you know of one available, give him a call. Craigs’ List was mentioned as a possibility also. If anyone is interested in attending the Illinois Spoonpluggers Winter Seminar, let Chase know. John Bales will be the featured speaker and Jeri Perry and Terry O’Malley will attend it this year.

A membership list was passed around and everyone added their information. This will probably be done at the meeting also. The question was asked about the club buying DVDs of Buck Perry’s presentations and video materials to use for club programs, if available. This will be explored further.

Keep Jim VanAsselt and his wife Carla in your thoughts and prayers. She is going through chemo treatments now. So far, things are going OK.

Last Thursday’s meeting included a discussion led by Terry Velting on “What We Learned From Last Years’ Fishing” and “What are Our Fishing Goals For This Coming Year.”
