I fished the Grand River above the 6th Street Dam Monday with Scott Tetzlaf and found the water level down somewhat, although it is still 2-3 feet above the summer lows. This fall has been very wet and we have had at least 2 flood warnings in the area. Fishing the river has been spotty at best. High water levels make for difficult fishing in rivers because fish are more scattered and harder to locate. Areas on structures the fish use can change due to water level and current alterations. More normal conditions allow the fish to settle into a more predictable pattern. In his book “Spoonplugging”, Buck Perry talks about fish using different structures as water levels change in reservoirs also.
