Dalton Rieke, a student at Eastside Middle School, recently bagged a large wild turkey. Rieke hunts with his father, Todd, and younger sister, MacKensie. The bird weighed 25 pounds and had an 11 1/2-inch beard and 1-inch spurs.
Indiana University fishing team Dustin Vaal of St. Meinrad and Steven Bressler of Fremont finished second out of 40 boats at Kentucky Lake in the FLW Qualifier. The team won $1,500 and is advancing to the FLW regional. This is Bressler’s third stint in the regional competition and he has also been named Angler of the Year at IU. He had the overall highest points at IU. Bressler and Vaal are currently in LaCrosse, Wisc., for the ESPN College Bass Super Regional.
This past Saturday, Trevor Craig, 12, shot a bearded hen during the regular turkey season. The unique bird had a 7 1/2-inch beard. The video of the hunt can be seen on newdayoutdoors.com.
