a child does not speak Yes. If students do not speak English fluently, a test in English is given to the students to assess the student’s language level. The type of help a student
will receive depends on the student’s language level. Peer
tutoring, in which an English
speaking student is paired with a non-English speaking student,
is provided to help students understand the class work. Certain

the instructors’ free What is a work permit? A work permit is a paper that is kept on file with a child’s school. If a child is under 18 years of age, the child needs to have a work permit on file to get a job. Where can a child get a work permit? A student may ask for a work permit in the school’s general office. The student will need to fill out the permit, have a parent or legal guardian sign the permit and take the permit to the employer. After the permit is completed, the permit needs to be returned to the child’s school. The office will keep it on file. Are there opportunities for a student to work and still get a good education? I.C.E. students are able to apply for a job, work part of the day and still take classes the other part of the day. or activities • Noble County PRIDE is a drug-free organization for kids and teenagers. PRIDE teaches other children about the effects of drugs. • The Wreck, located in Kendallville, is an organization for teenagers. The Wreck offers a Christian place for kids to go with their friends. It also frequently hosts concerts by Christian bands. 343-0545 • There are also many clubs and organizations that kids can get involved with through their schools. These activities include everything from sports, to academic teams to service organizations. • 4-H of Noble County is available for students in grades 1-12. It provides informal
education and assists in youth development through the over 50 projects
available to youth. Students choose a project and work on and develop
it. The students then present their projects at the Noble County
Fair during the summer. 4-H Clubs are divided by townships, and
the various clubs have meetings. Meetings are scheduled by the leaders
